Well, folks, we're officially halfway through with this experience and I'm missing home.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to be here and I'm enjoying this experience but I'm missing home.
I'm missing (in no particular order) Indianapolis, My Fiancé, Chick-Fil-A, My Mom, Target, IUPUI, My Dad, My Car, My Niece, My Siblings, Philanthropy Classes, Dairy Queen, My Church, My Friends, My Closet, My Family's Fur Animals (Buddy, Sammy, and Coco), Indy Fuel Hockey Games, My Job (WHATTTTTT)... I'm just missing my normal.
It's hard being 3,890 miles away from the people and life you love.
And on top of that, we had daylight savings over here and my body is all out of wack. MY SLEEP SCHEDULE IS RUINED. I've been staying up until 3:00 am to talk to friends and family and waking up at 3:00 pm to only 1 hour of daylight (sounds a bit depressing right, no wonder I'm in a funk)!!
When Kellie and I first scheduled this week, we thought it was going to be so nice to have a break. Welp, we've had a break for too long, can you believe that!?!!?
I thought this weekend in Derby was going to be so blissful and carefree not traveling but it's been somber, strange, and wearisome.
It's given me a chance to check-in back home and slow down my fast-paced life here and I guess it's just setting in about how much I'm missing by being over here.
I've been in a funk this week BUT I know that I WANT and NEED to make the most out of this experience so, the first thing I'm going to say is...
CAN OCTOBER BE OVER YET?!?!?
These past five days have felt like an eternity and I'm DAMN ready for November to be here!
New month, new beginning.
My new month will bring new travels and I'm excited to be continuing to see the world!
On Saturday, November 2, I'll be headed to Iceland and couldn't be more excited! Our agenda's going to be fairly open and the only thing that we have a schedule for is our visit to the Blue Lagoon. I can't wait to share my Icelandic experience with y'all!

Despite this week's struggles, I did learn new things and do some fun stuff in Derby :
1.) Went to the Bustler Street Food Market and tried new foods (10/10 would recommend the flat donut if you ever find yourself in Derby)
2.) Went out last Saturday to a local club and order my first ever fish-bowl for 5 POUNDS!!! (That's so insanely cheap!)
3.) Went to a wine tasting and felt like a grown-up swirling my wine and "clearing my palate" by eating cheese and crackers.
4.) Did some Christmas shopping!!! (What, can you blame me, 1. retail therapy and 2. Christmas is the next holiday over here #NoThanksgiving!!)
5.) Typed my first paper for a class at Derby (that means I'm 50% of the way done with that class, WOOHOO)!!
6.) Binged watched '60 Day's In' which was filmed in Clark County Jail which is only a few miles away from my house and all I have to say is WOW and Robert might be insane?!?!?
7.) Collin and I got some proofs from our engagement session in London, we're still awaiting the final photo's!!
8.) Scheduled my classes for the Spring of 2020 at IUPUI!!
9.) They call candy... SWEETIES?!?!?
10.) This week I learned that I am a STRONG independent woman that doesn't have to be so strong all the time. It's okay (and preferred) to share the weight with others and let them in on what you're going through.
I AM NOT SUPERWOMAN, I AM A WOMAN.
Thanks for following along, I appreciate you all!!
P.S. Keep us in your prayers this weekend because we're renting a car and THIS GIRL IS DRIVING IN ICELAND (yikes!!! Watch out Icelandic drivers, Justine's car is large and in charge and hasn't driven in a few months... EEK)!!
